In Search Of Sound - Intermediate
At the St.Petersburg Conservatory in 1862, Leschetizky introduced the technique of a relaxed, weight-produced sound which later became the foundation of the Russian piano school. This revolutionary approach changed the destiny of piano literature and paved the way for such giants as Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev. Peskanov believes that 21st century Piano Pedagogy has to combine the performing element with a reflection of these great traditions of the past. "The inspiration of making music evolves from the realization of technical freedom." This video, one of a three-part series, presents complete instructions on how to practice the Russian Technical Regimen requirements for Levels III, IV & V of the Piano Olympics Program. Alexander Peskanov performs various repertoire. He discusses the applications of the Russian Piano Schools approach achieving a full, weight-produced sound and gives tips on relaxation and how to overcome some of the technical hazards of the piano repertoire. These videos serve as an excellent tool in preparing teachers for certification. They also provide a wonderful supplement when viewed with students during their lessons.
